二力

Dual powers; there are three definitions:

(1) [lang id =1028]自力 one's own strength, or endeavours, i.e. salvation by cultivating [lang id =1028]戒, [lang id =1028]定, and [lang id =1028]慧; [lang id =1028]他カ another's strength, e.g. the saving power of Amitābha.

(2) [lang id =1028]思擇力 Power of thought in choosing (right principles); [lang id =1028]修習力 power of practice and performance.

(3) [lang id =1028]有力 and [lang id =1028]無力 positive and negative forces: dominant and subordinate; active and inert energy.

﹝出華嚴經疏﹞ 〔一、 思擇力〕， 思即思惟， 擇即決擇。 謂能思惟、 決擇一切正行， 對治諸障， 不令再起， 故名思擇力。 〔二、 修習力〕， 修即修治， 習即數習。 謂因修習之力， 能令一切善行堅固， 決定成就， 故名修習力。

自力和他方。 自力是眾生本身的戒定慧三學； 他力是佛菩薩的願力加被。
